Bob Dylan And Traditional Ballads

This section hopes to bring together the background and history behind some of the many traditional songs as featured by Dylan in concert and on record. Beginning with songs of mainly European origin, this can perhaps develop as an index of the diverse material he has either covered directly or adapted into some of his own work, one notable example being the many traditional melodies that he has borrowed for some of his best-known early songs.

This research has been gathered from many existing sites on traditional music and from diverse books on the subject as well as diverse reference sources on Dylan's music. However, I make no claims for these notes to be authoritative or totally accurate, and any comments, additions and corrections etc. are very welcome !

Some basic online resources are listed here.
